A Model Based Framework for IoT-Aware Business Process Management

IoT-aware Business Processes (BPs) that exchange data with Internet of Things (IoT) devices, briefly referred to as BPs, are gaining momentum in the BPM field. Introducing IoT technologies from early stages BP development process requires dealing complexity and heterogeneity such at design analysis time. This paper analyzes widely used frameworks ontologies introduce a BPMN extension improves expressiveness relevant modeling notations allows an appropriate representation devices both architectural behavioral perspective. In management field, use simulation-based approaches is recognized effective technology for analyzing BPs. Simulation models need be parameterized according properties under study. Unfortunately, parameters may change during operational life, thus making simulation model invalid respect actual behavior. To ease this introduces model-driven method automated digital twins business processes. The proposed also exploits retrieved by sensors automatically reconfigure model, make twin continuously coherent compliant its counterpart.
